Layer Push Up

Moves your current drawing's active layer up one position in the layer stack.

1. On the Layer Panel, select the layer that you want to push up.

2. Invoke Layer Push Up using the Find Tool by searching the command name and clicking the icon. The selected layer moves up one position in the drawing order of layers. Save the drawing if you want to keep the layer's new position.

Alternative: Select a layer on the Layer Panel, hold down the left-click button on your mouse, and drag the layer up on the list.

Note: You can undo Layer Push Up using Revert or Undo. If you Save the drawing, you can no longer Revert, but you can still Undo.

  • A drawing's active layer is the layer that is currently selected on the Layer Panel. If the selected layer is already at the top of the layer stack, then Layer Push Up does nothing.
  • Layers on drawings are Plotted in order. The bottom layer is plotted first. The top layer is plotted last. It is generally desirable to place opaque objects such as objects with a hatch or fill on lower layers. For example, if a label is on a layer that is below the layer that has an image on it, you might want to move the label's layer up so that it will print above the image.
  • An alternative way to push a layer up is to select it on the Layer Panel and drag it up on the list.
